About

The short film “Once Upon a Time in 1972” is a transistorpunk-science
fiction-action-adventure-period piece. It follows the scientist hero,
Spring Heeled Jack, through one crazy night in the early seventies.

This film is intended to be a proof-of-concept for a larger project
that we hope to do in the near future. Keep an eye out on this site
and on our Facebook page for more information!

This movie was proudly filmed in Champaign-Urbana, IL, and is currently
screening across the country. Check out the Screenings tab for details.

FAQ

Q: How can I watch the full movie?

A: We’re hoping to have it hosted online sometime in the Spring and should have some cool special edition DVDs for sale soon to help us raise money for the next chapter in the story.

Q: You shouldn’t use floppy disks in this movie! They totally weren’t around in 1972.

A: That’s not a question. Also, they were around. 8-inch floppies were available commercially in 1972! Check out the awesome Wikipedia article about floppy disks!

Q: Why doesn’t this movie make sense?

A: TBA

Q: Are you going to make more of theses?

A: We are! Based on the reception of ’72 we have pushed forward into production of a few other short sequels that flesh out the story. We finished “Once Upon a Time in 1973″ over the summer, and hope to skip a bit and go into production of “Once Upon a Time in 1977″ in the spring. We promise more robots and some disco!

After that, we hope to package all the shorts into a defacto web series to use as a proof of concept to raise money for an even crazier continuation of the story!

Q: What are some of your influences?

A: Ghostbusters, Indiana Jones, Big Trouble in Little China – Pretty much every 80s adventure movie that captured the great mix of comedy with an increasingly crazy supernatural twist. We also love the style and the feel of 70s cinema, even though the kind of story we’re telling doesn’t really fit as a “70s movie” in itself.
